Reformed Worship Hymn Search

A new hymn competition was announced on the inside back cover of the last two issues of Reformed Worship. The deadline for the text entries was January 1. We are glad to report that many of you submitted new texts on our theme, "Your Kingdom Come." Those texts are now being considered by the three text judges.

The second phase of composing music is now underway. A select number of texts will be sent by March 1, 1994, to composers who request them (some of the texts already came with music). Composers will have until July 1,1994, to submit a new tune for one or more of these texts. The tune should be conceived for congregational singing and should be set for organ or piano. Composers should set at least one stanza of the text in the music. Please submit four photocopies of the music.

Prizes of $200 (US) for first-place text and $200 (US) for first-place music will be awarded. Honorable mentions will also be announced. The winning entries will be published hi Reformed Worship 36 (March, 1995).

This hymn search is underwritten by the Christian Reformed Churches of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Send your entries to Hymn Competition, Reformed Worship, 2850 Kalamazoo Ave., Grand Rapids, MI 49560, (FAX: 616-246-0834).
