Resource: Sourcebook of Weddings

Vol. 2. Canton, Ohio: Communication Resources, 2001. 187 pp. $49.95; includes CD. 1-800-992-2144; order@Com Resources.com.

The introduction to this collection sounds a single theme: celebrating diversity. Like its predecessor (see review in RW 56), Volume 2 succeeds in providing, in an easy-to-use format, a diverse range of resources for the pastor or couple planning a wedding. But that diversity can be unsettling as well as invigorating. Some of the prayers, vows, readings, rituals, homilies, and musical suggestions are excellent. Others are plain goofy. The sheer volume of material means there will be wonderful things either to use or to hold up as anti-examples to the overly creative couple. Comes in a three-ring binder. Available with or without PC disk.

Rev. Dr. Ron Rienstra has been a regular contributor to Reformed Worship over the years. He is the director of worship life and professor of preaching and worship arts at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. He is an ordained minister in the Reformed Church in America , author of Church at Church, and coauthor with his wife, Debra, of Worship Words: Discipling Language for Faithful Ministry. Together they have three grown children, a multiplicity of living-room instruments, and a tame backyard they are slowly rewilding.
