A colleague and friend once described a game she played with her children. They called it “I’ve got a song for that.” It was an opportunity to nurture in her kids a repertoire of songs for times of joy or sadness.

Marty Haugen is a liturgical composer, workshop presenter, performing and recording artist, and author from Eagan, Minnesota. He was raised in the American Lutheran Church and received a BA in psychology from Luther College. More than 400 of his compositions are available from several publishers, especially GIA Publications, who also produced 30 recordings of his songs. He currently serves as composer-in-residence at Creekside United Church of Christ in Minneapolis and continues to compose and travel to speak and teach at worship events around the world.
