Creed and Confessions

Services may include the reading of a creed or confession as a way to declare the body’s unified faith. The ecumenical creeds that are shared among all Christians are: 

  • The Apostles’ Creed
  • The Nicene Creed
  • The Athanasian Creed

Confessions include communal testimonies and teaching documents called catechisms. These are more specific to particular branches of Christianity and even denominations. Common ones referenced on this website are: 

  • Our World Belongs to God
  • Our Song of Hope
  • The Belgic Confession
  • The Belhar Confession
  • The Canons of Dort
  • The Heidelberg Catechism
  • The Westminster Confession of Faith
