When the congregation of St. John’s Church in Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario, celebrated two hundred years of Presbyterian presence in their area, they returned to their roots and used prayers of the 16th C. English Reformer, John Bradford, in their worship. This is one of the prayers of intercession.
Dear God,
we most heartily ask and humbly pray
for your goodness to make our body such a companion,
or rather minister of godliness to our souls in this present life,
that in the life to come
it may partake with the same everlasting happiness
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
